1st Etel Winery Festival: 1st September 2018
Wine enthusiasts will be pleased to hear about the new tourist attraction in North Cyprus: Etel Winery - a truly unique and special place to visit on the western slopes of the Kyrenia mountain range, close to the tranquil village of Ilgaz. Just 7 miles west of Kyrenia, the winery commands stunning views down to the Mediterranean Sea and is welcoming visitors for the 1st Etel Winery Festival which will take place on the 1st of September this year.
Vines have been grown and grapes have been pressed in the Mediterranean since the Bronze age. Etel Winery is bringing this tradition back to life and celebrating on the 1st of September - the peak harvest time. The whole family are invited during the day to enjoy harvest tours, grape squeezing and bottling of this delicious Cypriot wine. In addition, there will be face-painting, art activities and much more throughout the day. The entrance is only 25TL per person (only about £3 at today’s exchange rate!) and the family festival will take place between 10.00 and 18.00. This is a great opportunity for visitors to get a complete insight into wine production, set in an absolutely beautiful setting - a real gem for Northern Cyprus.
In the evening, the family festival becomes more grown up! From 19.30 onwards Etel Winery is hosting an Evening Wine Celebration for adults only. At the stunning wine bar, guests will be able to relax, enjoy the gastronomical delights that Gillham’s Wine Bar will have to offer, listen to relaxing music and watching the sunset over the vineyards with a glass of their chosen vintage. 180TL per person will get you unlimited wine and food and exceptional entertainment. The restaurant has achieved 5 star Trip Advisor reviews since opening and is a truly unique establishment for Northern Cyprus.
As a one-off special offer, the Gilliam Vineyard Hotel is offering couples a chance to stay in one of the Rose Suites overlooking the vineyards for the special price of €120 (including breakfast the next morning) and you will have free entry to the Evening Wine Celebration, making this a really great offer which will need to be booked very quickly to avoid disappointment.
